How is PCOS diagnosed?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects 1 in 5 women. The diagnosis of PCOS is made by a woman having 2 of the 3 following characteristics:

1. Inability to release an egg, also called Anovulation

2. Increased male hormone levels ( androgens, testosterone)

3. Cysts appearing on the ovaries during a vaginal ultrasound.

Diagnosis may vary per state/ region

Women with PCOS may have irregular menstrual cycles, facial hair, acne and/or infertility
