What is PCOS?

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age. It is a common condition and is estimated to affect up to 1 in 5 women.

The exact cause of PCOS is not known, but it is thought to be related to insulin resistance, genetics, and hormonal imbalances. Women with PCOS have high levels of androgens (male hormones), which can cause a variety of symptoms, including:

  1. Irregular periods (missing or lasts a long time)
  2. Ovarian cysts
  3. infertility
  4. Excess facial hair, chest or back hair
  5. Acne or oily skin
  6. Weight gain or difficulty losing weight from insulin resistance
  7.  diabetes
  8. High blood pressure
  9. Depression, mood swings, anxiety
  10. Insomnia
  11. High inflammation markers

There is no cure for PCOS, but there are ways to manage the symptoms. Treatment options may include lifestyle changes , supplements such as PolyC's and exercise.

It is important to speak with a healthcare provider to discuss the best treatment options for individual cases
